Google Laying Off Thousands of Temp Workers?

January 8, 2009 2:37 am / 2 Comments / Pat McCarthy

Apparently Google has gotten rid of thousands of temporary workers according to the Associated Press based on documents filed to the SEC. I can’t say this is terribly surprising based on layoffs at my own employer and elsewhere in the tech industry.

What’s curious about this though, is that Google appears to be doing all it can to keep it off the web. Such as delivering the document in paper form, and asking for a special exemption to keep the document from circulating on the web. Interesting. Valleywag also has some theories and comments from people who were cut.
