MyBlogLog Adds People Tagging

May 26th, 2007

MyBlogLog has announced they’ve added people tagging to their widget. While I still think the general web isn’t hip with tagging yet, I think this will definitely fly in the Web 2.0/blog community that MyBlogLog has it’s following in today.

So far the tags showing up for me are pretty accurate:

  • Right Media

  • advertising

  • Web 2.0

  • google

  • blogs

  • blogging

  • funny

  • video

This could be pretty fun, but also dangerous if people are tagged for things they aren’t associated with or don’t really like. I wonder how that will end up being handled?

There’s also some really cool things that could be built from this. Each tag essentially becomes a “people category”, you can see all the people tagged “Right Media” to get a good idea of employees who blog or people who at least talk about Right Media. It’ll be interesting to see where it goes, but definitely a nice addition.

If you find you’re being tagged with codes you do not necessarily agree with, hover over the tag and you can click on the “Hide this Tag” link. That will hide the tag from further view and prevent anyone else from applying that tag to you again.

I tagged you a few more tags to your profile based on what I know about you. Have fun tagging!
