Jason Calacanis Podcast Gets 100k Sponsorship from PodTech and Godaddy
October 26th, 2006
I’m working up a full post on Jason Calacanis’ keynote at Blog Business Summit, but he just announced that PodTech.net and GoDaddy will sponsor his new “CalacanisCast” podcast. They’re paying $100,000 in total to sponsor his podcast and the money will be donated to a private school in Brooklyn to put two kids on scholarship who couldn’t afford it.
A few things about this:
1. Jason pointed out leading up to this he said two years ago podcasting wouldn’t work, but he finds himself listening to more “radio” than ever, but that he’s listening to podcasts instead of the real radio.
2. That’s an impressive amount of money for a sponsorship of a podcast. Obviously his name helps achieve such a dollar amount.
3. It’s fantastic he’s using the money from it in a positive way.
Congrats to Calacanis, PodTech.net, and Godaddy.
