I know in many cases that matching the ad to the content of the page itself doesn't always perform as well as more traditional behavioral targeting where the ad is just based on the user's interests regardless of the page it's being shown on. I also wonder what is classified as irrelevant? For instance, on your wakebording site, would cell phone ads be irrelevant? It isn't wakeboarding gear, but I'd bet that 95% of the users have a call phone. Also, if you have a community site, there is no telling what ads could be produced from the content in a forum or similar platform. If there was a topic about lawn mowers in your wakeboarding forum, and you got ads about lawn care, wouldn't that be relevant to some users?
