Pronet Advertising had a post today profiling Wufoo and the fact that they have form analytics when you use Wufoo’s form services.
This follows a trend of analytics becoming more specialized. If you’re a web publisher, you’ve now got:
Web analytics – From too many companies to count.
Feed analytics – From Feedburner and Pheedo.
Form analytics – From Wufoo.
Blog-specific analytics – From Blogbeat, MeasureMap, and Performancing.
Email analytics – From numerous vendors.
Advertising analytics – From ad networks, ad servers, and ad exchanges.
How much of a pain is it now for publishers to quickly and easily get a comprehensive view of their entire web business? I don’t particularly want to log in to five different applications to get the stats for the various parts of my web properties. I don’t have that much time, I don’t want to remember all my logins, and I don’t want to miss any important data either!
It’s not the fault of the companies, I commend Feedburner and Wufoo for providing specialized analytics, I just don’t like having to go so many places to get it and learn so many interfaces.
I think there’s an opportunity out there for someone to use the APIs available to put together an application that brings all your analytics together.

Pat, I couldn’t agree with you more when you say,
“I think there’s an opportunity out there for someone to use the APIs available to put together an application that brings all your analytics together.”
I see several potential road blocks for an application like this, but would love to see it happen, maybe even help it happen
Definitely Neal, I think the roadblocks are definitely there, and it’d be hard to make the perfect solution. It doesn’t mean someone shouldn’t try though.
I thought of this post when I learned that Feedburner purchased Blogbeat. (I even considered writing, “And think how happy Pat McCarthy will be now!”)
Robbin
Hah, definitely Robbin. It’s one small step of progress. Don’t get me wrong, I think choice is very important, but I do wish there was a service or two that provided me with most of my analytics needs in one application.
Form analytics – From Wufoo.
There are better form field analytics out there. I profiled one with http://www.formalive.com and one from FormVester thru the sales force appex exchange. They both totally rock.
Seb – From FormVester
As “m” from Wufoo mentioned, FormVester is a great tool to get deep online forms analytics. Strategic metrics such as field abondon rate, time needed to complete the form and much more can dramatically help on optimazing online forms and conversion rates. (FormVester is also availble for non salesforce users by the way).
I think that since the internet business is developing in such a competitive way, it becomes essential to get more and more specialized analytics tools for specific element of a website/blog. And I realy do think that this trend is going to last for a while. There’s definitly an opportunity out there for a global solution that would integrate feed, web, form analytics and other metrics. But to my mind there will always be some new elements to analyse that won’t be part of any global solution due to the extrem fast paced nature of the internet.
