WebSideStory Announces HBX 3.5: It’s Got Multimedia

WebSideStory announced earlier today on their blog and through a press release that they’re releasing HBX 3.5. Their position is that it’s the most comprehensive multi-media web analytics solution.

What’s that actually mean? Good question, so I read the press release to find out and learned that it means that HBX 3.5 allows users to track and get statistics on streaming audio and video as well as mobile devices. Not only that, they are the first analytics vendor to offer this in their standard product offering.

Some of the statistics that will track for streaming media include:

  • Number of views
  • Completion rates
  • Average duration of viewing

For mobile device analytics, a sampling of statistics include:

  • Segmenting of mobile device users
  • Mobile devices used by visitors
  • Brands of devices
  • Models
  • Service providers

Obviously if you’re a site publisher you need to be doing some advanced things to get benefits from this, but a lot of sites are starting to feature a lot of streaming audio and video, so those metrics seem like they’d come in handy in determining which streaming content was most successful.
