Yahoo is getting smarter. First I really liked their move at putting out their developer UI library, now MediaPost reports that Yahoo has released two new APIs and has two more big ones coming in the next few months.
They’ve released a new Yahoo Shopping API and released their Calendar API. This will allow other sites to tie into those platforms and pull whatever data necessary.
Coming in the next few months are a Yahoo Photos API and a MyWeb 2.0 API. What I find interesting about Yahoo Photos is that for all the buzz Yahoo-owned Flickr gets, Yahoo Photos is bigger with more users. They’re just more mom and pop regular internet users instead of the vocal Web 2.0 blogging generation that uses Flickr.
I applaud Yahoo for opening up and allowing third-parties to access Yahoo’s data and services.
