Blog Network Watch Launches A Huge Blog Ranking List

An interesting set of lists has been launched by Blog Network Watch.

The first list is a ranking of blogs which is calculated by a combination of links from Technorati, Yahoo, MSN, and Google. That seems like a good amount of data to use, but my problem is that it doesn’t list any blogs who aren’t affiliated with a network. It just seems like it’d be a more useful blog ranking list if it included independent blogs as well.

The next list is a ranking of all the blog networks. It’s a bit surprising how many networks there are. I understand some of the efficiencies of being part of a network, but it also seems like a lot of blogs would want to stay independent.

Well, in Conversion Rater’s short life I haven’t been approached by any networks. I really haven’t thought about it much, so it’d be tough to guess whether I’d join one or not. From what I’ve gathered they all have slightly different business models and relationships with bloggers, so I’m sure that would be a big part of the decision.

    Hi,
Thanks for the comments — right now we’re just looking at blogs that belong to blog networks – but obviously we’ve built an infrastructure that would allow us to rank individual blogs. That might be something that we look into soon ;)

    Thanks,
    Matt

Cool Matt, I’d recommend it! Based on your site name I can see why you chose to only include those blogs, but to make it a more valuable list, independent blogs would be good to see.

You can join just by linking… Good linkage equates to membership in the long run.

    Nice blog.

    Hi John,

What do you mean by join just by linking? Join what?
