Squidoo Goes Live
December 7th, 2005
Seth Godin’s latest project, Squidoo, has just opened up to anyone and is now live. I was a private beta tester, and had a good time playing around and giving them some bugs and feedback.
Here is the first lens I created for one of my hobbies: Wakeboarding. It was a fun process, and it’s easy for anyone who is an expert or passionate about a certain thing to create a “lens” into the web about that thing.
The site works on a co-op system, where revenue is shared between Squidoo and the “lensmasters” who create all the content. That revenue at this point is based on Adsense, and lensmasters can also add affiliate links into their lenses to generate their own revenue. While at this point it’s tough to tell since the site is so new, at some point it’s possible that entrepreneurial lensmasters could make some money from this.
Check it out and see if there are any lenses you can create! My suggestions would be a lens for your blog, your website, your personal bio, or just a subject you’re interested in.
